NEWS NOTES
🚧 Short stop on the Harbour Bridge
Get ready for another set of bridge closures next week. On Monday, Oct. 6 and Tuesday, Oct. 7, Harbour Bridge will close fully for about 20 minutes sometime between 6–7pm while crews do jacking operations. So prepare yourself by either avoid the area or making sure you restock the snack pile in the console.
🚦Slow ride on Millennium
Meanwhile in Quispamsis construction crews will be fiddling with traffic islands at Millennium Drive and the arterial starting today (Oct. 3) and maybe into next week. Add in road grading and other work, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for delays. Flaggers will be out directing traffic, but if sitting in line isn’t your thing, best to pick another way around.
💉 RSV shots open to 75+
Starting Oct. 14, anyone 75 and older in New Brunswick can roll up a sleeve for a free RSV vaccine. RSV (respiratory syncytial virus, if you want the long name) is a nasty bug that tends to make the rounds in winter and hits older adults the hardest. Last season it put 73 people in hospital. Appointments can be booked online or through your local pharmacy…just in time for flu season’s encore.
✈️ Racing in the air
Saint John’s Mark McIntyre just snagged Rookie of the Year in Formula One Air Racing which is basically NASCAR at 50 feet off the ground. Imagine flying 320 km/h around pylons in Roswell, New Mexico, alongside a pack of other daredevils. McIntyre didn’t take first place, but he impressed the field enough to earn the honour. Not bad for a guy who once thought colour blindness would keep him out of the cockpit.
🕵️♂️ Money you didn’t know you had
Turns out your old bank accounts and refunds might be sitting around waiting for their rightful owner. The Financial and Consumer Service Commission (FCNB) says unclaimed property like uncashed cheques, leftover refunds, unpaid wages is just waiting to be claimed. And business owners, this is your cue: dig through the books, reach out to the people you owe, and hand it over through the NB Funds Finder website. Who knew bookkeeping could feel like a treasure hunt?
🛳️ Two ships in port
Saint John is welcoming a pair of cruise visitors today. The Norwegian Getaway docks at 11:10am with 4,000 passengers ready to explore, followed by the Oceania Insignia at 2:00pm carrying 685 guests.
🏆 Top clicks of the week

WHERE WERE WE WEDNESDAY? 📸

📍 On Wednesday we shared this pic of a mural celebrating Canada 150 and asked if anyone knew where it was located…and you couldn’t. It’s near the Digby ferry terminal. If ya haven’t been down there lately, remember prices for the ferry have been lowered…might be worth a trip :)
