💦 Ugh...wet Halloween kisses
Good morning, Saint John! Shout-out to the parents who know how to run a proper Halloween tax…full-size bars get kicked up to the people paying the mortgage 🍫.
Here’s what’s in the pillowcase this morning:
Protect the candy, bring a garbage bag 🌪
Trails worth wandering, camera approved 🌿
Stuff a bus, save some tails 🐾
Let’s dig into it!

NEWS NOTES
🏛️ Saint John remembers Ivan Court
Former Mayor Ivan Court, who led Saint John from 2008 to 2012, has passed away. A lifelong Saint Johner and educator, Court spent 14 years on City Council, four of them as mayor, always pushing for a stronger, more connected community. Flags across the city were lowered to half-mast in his honor. Saint John has lost a dedicated public servant, but his love for this city will be remembered for years to come.
📝 Wills could go modern in New Brunswick
If you’ve been putting off making a will because…well, life, the province wants you to pay attention. New Brunswick is proposing updates to the Wills Act to match how people actually live today. Common-law partners get the same treatment as married spouses, and the minimum age to make a will drops from 19 to 16, so even teens with assets can plan ahead. Getting married won’t automatically wipe out your will either. Basically, they’re making sure your stuff ends up with the right people, not some legal headache. Check your will, make it clear, and maybe give your future self a little high-five.
☔ Halloween Might Be a Wet One
Trick-or-treaters, brace yourselves…Mother Nature is planning her own costume party. Environment Canada is warning of rain and gusty winds on Friday, with 30–50 mm of rainfall and coastal gusts up to 70 km/h. Decorations, pumpkins, and loose garbage bins may want to find a safe spot, and leaf-filled storm drains won’t help. Dress for wet candy runs, hold onto your hats, and maybe consider a waterproof cape. The spooks might be scary, but the weather’s about to give them some competition.
🌲 Quispamsis Wants You on Their Trails
We all know the Saint John region has trails for days, but Quispamsis decided it was time to show theirs off. The town teamed up with Camp Bay Media on a new video that highlights 27 km of trails across several beautiful spots for walkers, bikers, or anyone who just wants to get outside. Watch it, but don’t take it as a virtual reality fix, you’ll want to get out there and experience it for real.
YOUR OPINION, PLEASE 💬
That Quispamsis trails video got us thinking…what’s your go-to spot for a walk outside in the Saint John region? Cast your vote below, and if we missed your favourite trail, tell us…we’re always looking for new places to wander. 🌿
