NEWS NOTES
Take a seat, double the support 💺
Rothesay has $200,000 waiting in the wings. Getting it takes a little seat-filling.
The J.T. Clark Family Foundation will contribute a $200,000 matching gift if the community sponsors 200 arena seats and 200 floor tiles for the Rothesay Intergenerational Community Complex by December 15.
Each dedication costs $500 and can honour a person, family, business or organization. Groups can pool their support, and the campaign is encouraging donors to challenge others to join in. Hit the target and the community’s $200,000 becomes $400,000 toward the complex.
Roadwork takes the wheel 🚧
Route 1 repairs begin today between kilometre markers 123 and 129, with alternating lane closures in both directions expected through November 13. Some closures will stay in place around the clock, and drivers should expect delays during the morning and afternoon rush.
Uptown, water servicing near 77 Germain Street also starts today, with five days of work scheduled from 8am–8pm. Northbound traffic will shift into the parking lane beside the work zone. The street and businesses remain open, so your errands are still good to go.
More than the flashing lights 👮
There’s a lot of police work that never comes with a siren.
Saint John Police are launching a four-part series introducing the people and departments behind the force, from patrol and investigations to support services and the civilian staff keeping operations moving.
Patrol gets the first introduction, with the remaining features rolling out over the next couple of weeks. A chance to learn who does what at Peel Plaza without having to explain what happened to your inspection sticker.
