NEWS NOTES
Itâs Not Just YouâŠItâs Hot Hot
Saint John is heading into full sweat mode. Starting Tuesday, a heat wave will bake the city through Thursday with temps hitting 30 to 33°C inland (feels like 39 with the humidex). Nights wonât cool off much either, hovering around 20°C.
The coast will be slightly cooler, but if youâre inland: fans up, blinds down.
Watch for signs of heat exhaustion (dizzy, nauseous, grumpy blob feelings), check on neighbours, and hydrate like itâs your job. And seriouslyâdonât leave anyone in the car.
The good news? It looks like the heat will break with showers on FridayâŠand the long-range forecast is looking great for Moonlight Bazaar on Saturday.
âïžYSJ Set to Soar with Air Show Atlantic
Heads up, Saint John. Next August the skies above YSJ are about to get seriously exciting. The legendary Air Show Atlantic, one of Eastern Canadaâs biggest and coolest airshows, is landing right here in 2026.
This isnât your average fly-by. Think jaw-dropping acrobatics, military jets, vintage planes, and plenty of shiny aircraft parked on the ground for you to gawk at. Lori Carle, YSJâs marketing whiz, says itâs a golden chance to show off our airport and maybe inspire some future pilotsâŠor just give us all a good reason to look up and go âwow.â
Details like tickets and performers are still under wraps, but you better believe weâll be keeping an eagle eye out so you donât miss a beat.
đ Saint John Gets a Power Upgrade
Saint John Energy just scored $5.25 million from the feds to build a smarter electric grid that puts you in control and helps cut your power bills.
Glen Fillmore, the VP running the show, says the new system uses AI to fix outages faster, manage energy better, and connect with EV chargers and solar panels.
So do you save any money with all this? Yes - the plan is to shift power use to cheaper times and reduce wasteâŠplus, your bill will clearly show the savings, so you know exactly what youâre paying for.
Saint John Energy will be rolling this out over the next four years, so keep an eye on your power meterâŠyour wallet might just thank you.
