NEWS NOTES
š¾ A Fresh Era for the Sea Dogs
The Sea Dogs are celebrating their 21st season with a bold new look, the first full rebrand since 2005. Over the weekend on the Boardwalk, they unveiled a sharper logo, cleaner uniforms, and a fresh wordmark that pays tribute to the teamās history while charging forward.
Inside the collar of every jersey? Five embroidered championshipsā¦a subtle nod to the legacy players carry every time they hit the ice. The rebrand was two years in the making, led by award-winning designer Brian Gundell, whose work includes the Seattle Kraken.
Oh, and if you havenāt seen it yet, the reveal is narrated by none other than Saint Johnās own Maestro Fresh Wes.
š Support Nights for Parents and Youth
The Kennebecasis Regional Police Force, alongside several community partners, is hosting two free evening events in Quispamsis to support local families and youth.
Wednesday, July 16 is for parents and caregivers, with expert-led info on mental health, substance use, firearm safety, and other important topics. Itās a casual, welcoming space with resource booths, snacks, and time for questions.
Wednesday, July 23 is youth-focused, offering tips on how to support friends, handle tough situations, and connect with trusted resources.
š§ Blue-Green Algae Warning at Meenanās Cove
The Hammond River Angling Association is waving the caution flag for the Kennebecasis near Meenanās Coveā¦surface blooms of cyanobacteria (aka blue-green algae) have been spotted by the boat launch. If the water looks like a green smoothie, smells weird, or has scummy mats floating around, youāll definitely wanna skip the swim and be sure to keep pets far away. The HRAAās CyanoTracker is keeping tabs, and theyāll post updates as things clear up.

ā³ The Return of the Cityās Most Ridiculous Golf Tournament
Time to dust off your visor and start scheming a costumeā¦the 31st Germain Street Open is officially on the books for October 18, and registration opens August 1.
The annual Uptown mini-putt tourney takes over shops, sidewalks, and unsuspecting foyers, all in support of LāArche Saint John and Creative Connections. Itās part fundraiser, part fever dream, and fully acceptable to play in sequins, wigs, or as the entire cast of Caddyshack.
Swing for glory. Or just vibes.
š² Saturday Soup & Share Welcomes All & Could Use Your Help
Every Saturday from 3ā5pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church (just up from the corner of Waterloo and Brinley), a hot meal is served with kindness. The Saturday Soup & Share offers a hearty selection of meals, from comforting soups and traditional favorites to creative, home-style dishes and fresh-brewed coffee, all free and made possible by volunteers and donations.
Anyone is welcome to drop in, whether you're in need of a nourishing bite, a friendly chat, or simply a warm space to be. Itās a growing grassroots effort, and if youād like to donate food, supplies, or even share some live music, check out their Facebook group to see whatās needed and how you can pitch in.
š Seniors, Your Spot Awaits Uptown
The Seniorās Resource Center is back open this summer, welcoming visitors Wednesday through Friday, 1-4 pm, all July and August.

š¶ Paws Up: Uride Now Lets Pets Tag Along
Good news for pet parentsā¦Uride just rolled out a new "Pets" ride option, so your four-legged sidekick can finally ride shotgun (or sprawl across the backseat). For a $5 fee, you can now bring your pet along without the awkward "is my dog okay?" text dance. Drivers opt in, so everyoneās on the same page. And as always, service animals ride free, no questions asked. Itās about time, honestly.
