NEWS NOTES
🏠Teen Builders Craft Outdoor Classroom for Little Learners
Who says high school projects are just for class credit? Simonds High’s skilled trades crew just proved they’re in the business of building more than grades - this time, a sweet new outdoor learning shed for Glen Falls Elementary.
It’s a full-circle moment for a few of the teen builders who once roamed the halls of Glen Falls themselves. Two to three weeks of hard work, some heavy hammering, and voilà - a classroom in the great outdoors, ready for curious minds!
🂡 St. George’s Half-Million Dollar Card Game
The ace is still hiding with ten cards left in St. George’s half-million-dollar card showdown last night - and Bob Dack was the man of the hour. Bob picked #7, hoping for the ace of spades, but he pulled the 6 of diamonds instead - good for a cool $15,639.30. The ace was cozy under #5, meaning the jackpot has soared to a mind-boggling $585,113.20. So if you’re feeling the luck, get your tickets ready for next Thursday’s draw at 8:30pm. You just might be the next big winner!
🧊 Americold digs in at The Port
Saint John’s working waterfront just got a frosty new neighbour…Americold has officially broken ground on a $100-million cold storage hub at Port Saint John - their first in Canada. This is no ordinary freezer box: it’s teaming up with DP World’s mega cranes and the iron horses of CPKC to create a cold chain powerhouse. Craig Bell Estabrooks from Port Saint John says it’s all about bringing in global shipping muscle, while Rob Chambers at Americold can’t wait to move the world’s groceries with Saint John as the anchor.
By 2029, Americold’s cool cash (and a $1 million payroll rebate from the province) could churn out 100 new waterfront jobs. Saint John’s getting colder, but in a good way. The hub is expected to be open by 2026.

Matt Keenan, Jeff Pinnell, Ryan Whittaker, and Shane Ogden will be tearing it up…no polite applause here, just belly laughs and beer. It’s $15 for a night of unapologetic comedy, so grab your tickets, get ready to swear, and let’s raise some hell (and cash) for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada! Doors open at 6pm, show starts at 7pm.
