😱 Scream it from Tin Can

Good morning Saint John! We’re heading into the most tree-mendous weekend of the year! Apparently more people put their tree up this weekend than any other, which means more couples argue about how the tree goes up than any other weekend… 🌲

Here’s the trim of the week:

  • Scooters Take Over the Streets 🏁

  • Snip, Style, Support Local Meals ✂️

  • West Saint John Shines Brightest ✨

Enjoy the day!

NEWS NOTES

🛴 Scootin’ Ahead

You’ve probably noticed abandoned scooters all over town lately…now the city is wondering what to do about them, but they’re not rushing into bylaws just yet. Public Works says they are watching how things go in 2026 while quietly hoping the province steps in with actual rules first.

Moncton is already moving toward helmet requirements, age limits and speed controls for rental companies, and if Saint John eventually drafts anything, it will probably look similar.

For now, the city is sticking to education (common sense) like wearing a helmet, watching traffic and not pretending your scooter can take a corner like a race bike.

💇‍♀️ A Good Hair Day for a Good Cause

If your roots are begging for mercy, Sunday, November 30 might be your lucky day. Shades of Color at McAllister Place is running a Cut-A-Thon from 12pm to 5pm. A $25 donation gets you a cut and blowout with every penny going straight to Operation Feed to help local families put meals on the table.

Spots are first-come, first-served so don’t roll in at 4:55 expecting magic. The team says it is all about looking good, feeling good and doing good at the same time, basically a triple win.

💬 The Results: Where Are The Brightest Lights?

You spoke, and West Saint John is clearly shining the brightest with 38% of the vote. East Saint John follows at 21%, Quispamsis 16%, Rothesay 6%, North End 5%, Grand Bay-Westfield 5%, South End 3%, Hampton 3%, and Other 4%.

Some of your top tips for must-see spots:

“Gault Road!” — multiple West Saint John fans
“McCavour Drive has even more lights this year with a nice mix of displays.” — West Saint John
“Charles Street in Lakewood Heights neighborhood” — East Saint John
“Starting Dec 1 go see the lights at 8 Woodland Avenue in Rothesay”
“1 (or maybe 2) Lakefield Terrace off Winchester.” — Quispamsis
“Kiersteads Flower Shop wins best Christmas decorations and lighting every time!! We love it!! Thank you Jason Jenkins 🙏🏽” — South End

So the weekend plans are set, we’ve got a few neighbourhoods to check out. Be sure to check out SJ Today on instagram, we’ll share our favorite light displays there.
