đ€§ Saint John news: sniffles & sluggers
Good morning Saint John! If you thought traffic was bad this week, imagine dodging a highway full of hot dogs. That actually happened last month in Pennsylvania, when a truck spilled its load across the interstate. The local fire chief summed it up: âI can tell you personally, hot dogs are very slippery. I did not know that.â
So as you crawl through construction zones this week, just be glad itâs not
glizzy-induced gridlock. đ
Hereâs what weâre gabbinâ today:
Masks required at hospitals đ„
Countdown to Come From Away âł
Hereâs to the finer things đ„
Letâs get it!

NEWS NOTES
đ· Masks make a comeback
If you thought your mask days were behind you, think again. Starting today, Horizon is asking everyone including patients, visitors, and health care staff to don a medical-grade mask in all patient-facing areas. Emergency rooms, clinics, inpatient units⊠If you see a doctor, you see a mask. Lobbies and cafeterias are still mask-free zones, so your coffee run is safe. Horizon says itâs just being extra cautious as sniffles and coughs start their seasonal sneak attack.
đ Come From Away lands in Saint John
No need to fly anywhere⊠âCome From Awayâ is just under a week away from touching down at the Imperial Theatre on September 9. After a stop in Saint Andrews, this homegrown version brings the heartwarming story of stranded passengers and a Newfoundland community that rolled out the welcome mat. If you havenât seen it on Broadway or elsewhere over the years, youâre in for a treat with an all-New Brunswick cast. Kindness, resilience, and East Coast spirit served with incredible music, laughs, and heart.
⟠Saint John rookie does it all
Haden Dow is making Saint John baseball fans wonder if heâs secretly from another planet. The lefty rookie for the Alpines racked up three of the five top New Brunswick Senior Baseball League awards including Rookie of the Year, MVP, and Pitcher of the Year, plus he hit .405 on the season, including a grand slam, despite not batting in six years. Then, as if that wasnât enough, he added a national championship with the Charlottetown Islanders. Alpines coach Trevor Beach calls him the âbackboneâ of the team, though after this summer we might need a stronger word.
đą Enchanted Princess docks in Saint John
The Enchanted Princess rolls into port today with up to 3,600 visitors on board. Itâs here from 8âŻam to 7âŻpm. Lucky for them, they donât have to worry about the Harbour Bridge closures this week. Us on the other hand⊠good luck with that.
