🍷 Good Drinks, Great Cause

Sip & Savour raises funds to enhance life for Rocmaura’s 150 residents - including new furniture for rooms, a wheelchair-accessible van for outings, and support for recreation, entertainment, and care items not covered by government funding. It’s about adding comfort and those little extras that make Rocmaura feel like home.
The event itself features 20+ beverage vendors from around NB (with non-alcoholic options too), raffles, and silent and live auctions packed with experiences and unique items you won’t find anywhere else.
General admission is $75. VIP is $150 and includes early entry, a reserved table, exclusive tastings, charcuterie, and a $75 charitable tax receipt.
NEWS NOTES
👢Saint John Brought the Boots

Boxcar was back on the waterfront this weekend, and Saint John understood the assignment…boots, fringe, denim, and just the right amount of yeehaw.
On Saturday, Tenille Townes won the crowd with a crucial on-stage review: the best breakfast sandwich she’s ever had came from Jeremiah’s in the City Market. She also scored some vintage at Exit 98 before hitting the stage, so yeah, she got the full Saint John experience.
Sunday brought cooler temps and a few more clouds, but the stage was hot. Big Sugar rolled in just under the wire. “Seventy-five minutes ago we were in Ontario airspace,” frontman Gordie Johnson told the crowd. Then Tim Hicks closed things out by rattling the tent and getting the Sunday night crowd moving.
Between families, friend crews, and country fans of all kinds, the vibe was solid and the weekend hit just right.
🚧 Roundabout Way to Start the Week
Construction kicks off today at Sandy Point Road and Foster Thurston Drive as the city breaks ground on a brand new single-lane roundabout. Expect traffic to squeeze into one lane for the next 11 weeks, with temporary signals handling the back-and-forth dance. Crews will be working 24/7 to install sidewalks, crosswalks, and stormwater upgrades, plus fresh connections to Rockwood Park’s trail system. In short: it’s gonna get better, but first, it’ll be slower.
😇 Quispamsis Wants Council to Mind Its Manners
The Town of Quispamsis is putting some rules on the books with a proposed Council Code of Conduct now heading for a final vote August 19. The bylaw aims to keep council business ethical, professional, and drama-free, ‘reflecting the town’s values’ of solid governance and accountability. Want to weigh in or see what it’s all about? You can read the draft bylaw here or in person at the Clerk’s office. The meeting will be livestreamed August 19th at 6pm.
🚢 What’s Big, Green, and Full of Boulders?
If you’ve spotted a massive lime-green ship docked at Long Wharf, you’re looking at Yellowstone, a powerhouse vessel from global marine giant DEME Group. She’s in town for a few weeks of maintenance, but usually she’s offshore doing serious work: dropping rocks to help build wind farms.
LOCAL BUSINESS
🍛 Katsubi Turns Two at City Market
Katsubi is celebrating two years in the City Market. Their signature dish, katsu, is a Japanese-style fried pork or chicken cutlet, served with sauces and sides. A personal favourite? The katsu balls…so good.
They’re marking the anniversary with some freebies when you order, but really, it’s just a great reminder of how good their food is…and that it deserves a spot in your lunch plans this week.
