Good morning, Saint John! They say two heads are better than one. A baby turtle in Massachusetts is testing that theory. Two heads, one shell, and we’d imagine an argument about where to eat this weekend.
Here’s the lowdown for the day:
Bus fare background check 🚌
A bigger home for the om 🧘
Meet the locals with scales 🐟
Let’s get into it!

NEWS NOTES
Your bus discount needs a pit stop 🚌
Buying a discounted bus fare on your phone will soon require putting the phone down and showing up in person.
Starting November 1, students and seniors using SJTRides must have their eligibility validated, including existing users. You’ll need an app account and valid student ID, or government-issued ID showing you’re 65 or older. Students renew annually. Seniors only do it once. Apparently, getting older doesn’t require annual proof.
Sessions run 10am –2pm: City Hall October 7
NBCC’s Building A lobby October 8–9
Lancaster Mall’s FLEX bus stop October 15–16
One Change, 85 Durham Street, October 20.
Transit headquarters at 55 McDonald Street also handles validation weekdays, 8am–4pm.
A fancy title needs receipts 💼
A business card can say plenty. It’s worth checking what backs it up before handing someone your financial future.
The Financial and Consumer Services Commission of New Brunswick’s October education campaign explains the province’s new rules protecting the titles “financial advisor” and “financial planner,” including similar titles. The law took effect January 1 and requires an approved credential and oversight from an approved credentialing body. People already using the titles before then may qualify for transition periods.
Before choosing someone, ask about their qualifications and the services they provide. A firm handshake is lovely, but it is not a credential. Finfo has resources explaining the rules, and suspected improper use of the titles can be reported to the commission.

LOCAL BIZ
More room to stretch 🧘

Steph Savage, owner of Savage Yoga, which opens its new Chesley Drive studio today. Photo submitted.
You don’t have to bend over backwards to fit in at Savage Yoga. But with classes filling up at their bed and breakfast, Steph Savage needed more space.
With help from an Impact Loan through Envision Saint John, they’re opening a bigger studio at 199 Chesley Drive, Unit 110.
“Students are always welcome to rest, skip a pose, move differently, or simply take things at their own pace,” Steph told SJ Today.
Classes include chair yoga, healthy aging, neurodivergent yoga and sound baths. A newcomer pass is $75, with sliding-scale pricing and a pay-what-you-can class available.
Today’s grand opening, October 2, runs 5–7 PM, with art, Reiki, tarot, henna and refreshments. Sample yoga therapy classes run at 5:30 and 6:30pm, and the first 100 visitors get a gift bag. Find classes and details here.

WHERE WERE WE WEDNESDAY? 📸

📍 On Wednesday we shared this image of a couple still basking in the summer sun and asked if could recognize where you might find them around town. And as October has reared its leaf-peeping head, some of you still knew that they could be found in the top entrey to the City Market off Charlotte Street. Shout out to Eddy D., Kate W., Morag W., Jenn B., David C., and Ken C. for knowing it!
