Port makes room for fine art 🎨
The Port’s newest arrival won’t need a crane, but she may bring an easel.
The Moncton-born artist will get behind-the-scenes access to the waterfront, digging through archives, collecting oral histories and speaking with the community. Her finished work will explore the Port’s folklore, working life and shared memories.
The project will eventually sail into the Saint John Arts Centre, where it’ll be exhibited from September 3 to October 22, 2027.
Breakfast gap hits the classroom 🥣
A new survey found just 37% of New Brunswick students in Grades 6 to 12 eat breakfast every day. Among students from households with fewer resources, it’s 28%, compared with 44% in households with more income. That’s a pretty big gap before first period even starts.
The New Brunswick Health Council also found one in five students felt lonely most or all of the time in the past year. On the brighter side, nine in 10 said they feel connected to their school.

Creative Night at Chroma | September 24
Members of the queer community can bring a creative project and spend an evening making and socializing at Chroma. The gathering begins at 6:30 p.m. at 200 Carmarthen Street. Guests without a current project are welcome too, with shared supplies available to help them try something new and get their hands moving.
Darren Elmore Live at Five & Dime | September 24
Saint John comedian Darren Elmore headlines a night of live stand-up at Five & Dime. The show begins at 8 p.m. at 34 Grannan Street, bringing a featured comedy performance to the Uptown bar rather than its usual weekly programming. Tickets are $15+taxes and fees.
FRIDAY
Saint John Sea Dogs vs. Moncton Wildcats | September 25
The provincial rivalry returns to TD Station as the Saint John Sea Dogs welcome the Moncton Wildcats. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m., giving local fans their first Friday-night hockey fix of the new season. Tickets and seating options are available here.
SATURDAY
The Art Room: Ages 6–8 | September 26
Young artists can explore different materials, build creative skills and meet other kids during a new program at the Saint John Arts Centre. The session for children ages six to eight begins at 10:30 a.m. Participants will tackle guided projects in a supportive setting designed to encourage confidence, self-expression and plenty of hands-on experimentation.
The Art Room: Ages 9–13 | September 26
Older young artists can try new materials and techniques during an arts-focused program at the Saint John Arts Centre. The session for ages nine to 13 begins at 1 p.m. and combines creative projects with opportunities to build confidence and make new friends. Registration should include the participant’s name, age and any accommodation needs.
Walk & Learn: Birch Bark Craft and Traditional Canoe Experience | September 26
A hands-on afternoon at Rockwood Park will connect birch bark, traditional canoe building and Wolastoqey culture. Participants will create a craft and learn about the process of making a birch bark canoe from 1–2:30 p.m. The free outdoor program is open to women and gender-diverse participants and meets at 10 Fisher Lakes Drive.
Stars, Story & Soul | September 26
Mi’gmaq Elders Cynthia, Constance and Raymond Sewell lead an evening of teachings, stories and connection beneath the Fundy sky. The gathering runs from 5–9 p.m. at Tapestry in Tynemouth Creek and includes a harvest meal, moon ceremony and guided stargazing. Tickets are $149 plus HST, with attendance limited to keep the experience intimate.
Moosehead’s 159th Birthday Bash | September 26
Moosehead is celebrating 159 years of brewing in Saint John with live music, food trucks, patio games and drinks at its west side taproom. The 19-plus party runs from 7 p.m.–midnight at Moosehead HQ. Drinks will be sold by token, with tokens available at the celebration and in advance.
Saint John Comedy Classic | September 26
Three Canadian comics take over Imperial Theatre for a Saturday night lineup featuring Juno winner Adam Christie, Canada’s Got Talent alum Courtney Gilmour and Just For Laughs Vancouver performer Aaron Arya. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $49 early or $59 regular admission, and the performance is restricted to adults.
Waterfront Concert Series: July Talk | September 26
July Talk celebrates the 10th anniversary of Touch with a Saturday night performance on the AREA 506 waterfront stage. Today Jr opens the show, which runs from 7–11 p.m. Tickets start at $48.

Laughter All Around | September 27
Brad Rice, Kelly Lamrock and Jason Gary are joining forces for the sixth edition of Laughter All Around. The live comedy show begins at 8 p.m. at Picaroons General Store, bringing three familiar performers together for another round of local laughs.
SOS: The ABBA Experience | September 27
SOS brings the songs, costumes and spectacle of ABBA to Imperial Theatre Sunday at 7:30 p.m. The tribute show invites the audience to sing and dance along to the Swedish group’s biggest hits, making spectators part of the performance. Tickets cost $55.70 for an evening with plenty of music and, presumably, several sequins.
