NEWS NOTES
đ° City taps the brakes on water use
Saint John Water is waving the caution flag after weeks of dry weather. Splash pads are shut, City trucks wonât be getting their weekly baths, and hydrants are off the spa schedule. The priority now is keeping enough pressure for homes, hospitals, and firefighters.
Residents are asked to do their part: skip lawn watering, hold off on pool fills, and keep showers short. Full laundry loads, leak fixes, and rain barrels are the name of the game. Itâs voluntary for now, but the message is clearâŚconserve today or face stricter rules tomorrow.
âď¸ Air Canada shuffles its New Brunswick deck
Air Canada is switching up its New Brunswick flight plan. Starting December 15, daily service will run from Ottawa to Moncton and Fredericton, giving travelers a quick hop to the capital (and a straight shot to warmer destinations through Ottawa connections).
But while some routes are taking off, one is taxiing to the gate for good. Come January 26, Bathurst will lose its Air Canada service, with the airline citing low demand. Translation: more options if youâre in Moncton or Freddy, fewer if youâre up north.
đş Cruise ships toot, clubs stay mute
Turns out, Saint Johnâs nightlife has a volume problem but not the kind you think. Club Rewind owner Sara Gradim says noise by-laws have hammered her bottom line, forcing her to ditch nightclub nights after a flood of complaints. Meanwhile, those musical cruise ship horns? They can shake windows without penalty.
The rulebook bans amplified sound that bothers even two people, unless youâre a festival or City-sanctioned event. Critics say that leaves local clubs muzzled while visiting ships toot away. Music NB calls it a hit to the cityâs music scene. The Port says itâs working on it.
đ Vote toilet paper couture back to the top
Grand Bay-Westfieldâs own Chavah Lindsay is once again proving you can turn bathroom tissue into high fashion. After winning last yearâs Cashmere Collection with a jaw-dropping TP gown, sheâs back in Toronto with a new design inspired by the tides of the Bay of Fundy.
Hereâs the fun part: your vote not only supports Chavah, but also sends dollars to breast cancer research. Every click = $1 donated (up to $100K). Plus, voters are entered to win $5,000.
So letâs fluff up the hometown support and get Chavah trending. Vote here.
