Good morning Saint John! Well, the bus got stuffed and now the pooches and kitties at the SPCA will get their kibble on for another day. Hereâs what weâre hearing today:
Paddles ready, streets beware the swing đž
Snowâs worst tricks meet their match âď¸

NEWS NOTES
âď¸ City Promises Smoother Streets
Saint Johnâs getting serious about snow this season. After last winterâs plow struggles, Public Works is bringing new tricks to keep streets and sidewalks clearer. Street plows will now tackle sidewalks too, cutting down that annoying snow ridge between curb and walkway.
Cars parked where they shouldnât be? Fines are climbing, and enforcement staff will be ready to tow if needed. The city is also running a live âwinter auditâ all season to make sure snow removal actually works.
đ¸ Money Challenges for Many New Brunswickers
A new FCNB survey shows women, newcomers, and people with disabilities face the biggest hurdles managing money. Only 11% of women feel very knowledgeable about finances versus 33% of men, and people with disabilities report lower confidence than others.
Hidden fees, confusing contracts, and tricky online products are adding to the challenge. One in four residents has been blindsided by surprise charges. Online banking and investing are up, but scams are too, with crypto fraud making up 23% of reported losses.
The FCNB hopes to use this data to develop programs and tools that help New Brunswickers feel more confident and protected.
đ Sea Dogs bring home games to Fredericton
The Sea Dogs are bringing three home games to Fredericton this season with the new Capital City Series. Fredericton fans can catch the Dogs at UNBâs Aitken Centre on Nov. 30, Jan. 8, and Feb. 1, with special Canadiens jerseys planned for the Feb. 1 tribute. The team says the series stems from deep ties with UNB alumni like Mike Thomas and Peter Reynolds, noting that it gives Freddy a rare chance to enjoy CHL regular-season hockey. Tickets are available, with three-game packages including a commemorative tee.
đž Pickleball Courts Open at Shamrock Park
Might be a little chilly for outdoor pickleball, but hey, whoâs letting a crisp November morning stop them from swinging a paddle? Saint John just got three brand-new pickleball courts at Shamrock Park, and theyâre ready for action. Open daily from 8am to dusk, the courts are free when no bookings are scheduledâŚor you can reserve a spot online or via email if youâre feeling fancy. Grab a paddle, rally your pals, and get out for some action!
