🏗️ Looking up in Quispamsis?
Good morning Saint John! With everyone putting their Christmas lights up this weekend, we’re merging into the holiday season faster than a rush-hour zipper on Chesley Drive and I’m here for it.
Here’s the word on the street this morning:
99 King Street rising at last 🏗️
Quispamsis could go vertical with 150 units 🏢
KV Santa Parade lights the weekend 🎄
Let’s get into it!

NEWS NOTES
🏢 Quispamsis eyes big build on Hampton Road

Spitfire Design’s Concept renderings for 213 Hampton Road
Quispamsis is thinking tall thoughts these days with a proposal for two six-storey mixed-use buildings and a five-storey residential building at 213 Hampton Road, a vacant stretch of prime downtown land finally getting its close-up. The developer wants to rezone the property to integrated development, which would bring 150 units, including affordable and accessible options, plus new commercial space at street level. Staff say the project could deliver strong tax revenue and the units are geared toward seniors who want something friendly without fuss.
Council has opened the 30-day public comment window until December 18, so if you have opinions on height, density, or whether Quispamsis is ready for its mini metro moment, now is the time. Residents can also check the details at Town Hall during business hours.
🏙️ King Street finally gets its comeback
Uptown’s long-empty corner at 99 King Street is finally filling in, with a 13-storey apartment building rising quickly thanks to Strescon’s off-site manufactured panels that are delivered ready to install. The exterior is designed to fit the surrounding heritage look, and developer Percy Wilbur says nearly 150 units plus ground-floor commercial space should be ready next year…a welcome step forward for one of the city’s most prominent properties.
🎄 Mall hours mean it’s officially holiday season
You know it’s serious shopping season when the mall extends hours for Santa… and for us to spend money. McAllister Place is rolling out the festive schedule starting today (November 24), with Santa available for photos nearly every day until Christmas Eve.
