NEWS NOTES
$54 Million in Projects Approved for SJ đ§
Hold on to your hard hats! The cityâs got some serious upgrades coming in 2025, with over $54 million worth of projects lined up. Thanks to a mix of local and government funding (about half of it from other levels of government), weâre talking street reconstructions, new fire trucks, and a fresh new look for the Barbourâs General Store site. Plus, get ready for a roundabout, a pickleball court, and a longer Harbour Passage. Oh, and thereâs moreâthink safer roads, a revamped City Market, and even a new ERP system. Itâs not all borrowed money eitherâSaint Johnâs retiring more debt than itâs taking on. Looks like 2025âs going to be a busy year for building up our city! (CHSJ)
Saint John is Charging Up âĄ
Hereâs some electrifying news - Saint John Energy is rolling out 10 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations as part of its Zero30 mission to hit net-zero emissions by 2030. This $380,000 upgrade (thanks to a little help from Natural Resources Canada) will boost the cityâs charging network to 18 stations, with four fast-chargers going in at UNB Saint John and the Red Rose building uptown. Other spots will pop up at TD Station and Sewell Street. Glen Fillmore at Saint John Energy says this will help drive sustainable transportation across the city. Charge up and drive green, SJ!
