Good morning, Saint John! Fallâs creeping in: splash pads shuttered, my feed clogged with Timmyâs Thanksgiving sandwich(đ), and darkness by 8:30. Can someone tell me why we have to do this every year? đ©đ

NEWS NOTES
đ„ Heating oil gets pricier Friday
If youâve been procrastinating on filling the tank, this is your last call before prices jump. Starting Friday, heating oil in New Brunswick will cost an extra 9 cents a litre (plus tax), the biggest one-week bump since last fall. Why? Fewer people are using oil these days, heat pumps have taken over, and suppliers say they need the boost just to stay afloat. So, dig deep now, or pay even more later.
đ Fireworks in September
Canada Day in⊠September? Sure, why not. After a summer of rain, fire bans, and scheduling chaos, the big red-and-white bang weâve been waiting for is finally happeningâŠon Saturday, September 27 at 9pm down at the Lower Cove Loop. Call it a farewell-to-summer party, call it delayed patriotism, call it whatever you likeâŠjust donât call it cancelled(âmagin). Bring a sweater, because nothing says âCanada Dayâ like watching fireworks in fall. If youâre headed to Sip nâ Savour that night, what better way to cap off a fantastic evening uptown?!
đȘ Y Helps Locals Move Better
The YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick is proving exercise isnât just for athletes. Their 12-week Healthy Mobility Program helps people with limited mobility from chronic illness or injuries regain strength, balance, and confidence. Small classes four times a year at the Regional Y on Churchill Blvd. are led by certified exercise pros. Participants can self-refer or get a doctorâs referral, and are grouped by ability.
Early grad Rita Clark calls it a âprescription for a lifetimeâ after she saw better blood pressure, improved mobility, and renewed independence while participating. Fun, social, and life-changing, this program turns exercise into a real health upgrade.
đą Norwegian Getaway rolls in with 4,000 visitors
Saint John is set for a busy Thursday as the Norwegian Getaway docks at MPCT, bringing up to 4,000 visitors to town. If only theyâd come with hard hats instead of luggage, maybe Harbour Bridge would actually be finished by now. Regardless, itâll be a fun day to be uptown chatting with tourists and reminding them how awesome the port city is.
đŠ Sea Dogs face the heat
Before lacing up for their home opener this Friday, the Saint John Sea Dogs traded hockey gear for fire gear at KV Fire HQ. The players ran drills, worked the hoses, and got a taste of firefighter life, all part of a little team-building. Pretty safe to say they passed with flying (blue) colours.
