NEWS NOTES
🛳️ All Hands on Deck for Port Days 2025
The shipping crowd has docked in Saint John for Port Days 2025, and this year's event is packed like the Market Square bathrooms on a three-ship day in September. Yesterday's opening reception was all about toasts and trolley rides, but today? It's a full-on shipping summit.
Mi’kmaq Elder Donna Augustine will kick things off with an Indigenous blessing, followed by Craig Bell Estabrooks, our very own port’s captain, who’ll set the scene for a day of high tide talks. Premier Susan Holt will be popping in to chat global trade, while folks from CN, Canpotex, and Nutrien map out the bulk operations future.
Tonight, maritime hospitality will be in full swing with a Seafood Fiesta. It’s all part of why Saint John is the place to be if you’re into the hustle and flow of global trade.
🚌 Ride the 40-foot Limo on June 4
Saint John’s got your back…and your lungs next Wednesday. In honour of Clean Air Day, the City and Saint John Transit are letting you hop on the bus for free. That’s right…no coins, no cards, just cleaner air and breezier commutes.
The city is joining 50 cities across Canada to cheer for clearer skies and happier lungs. NB Lung is leading the charge, making sure our air stays fresh and our city keeps on chugging (with fewer car fumes).
So grab your reusable coffee mug and take that free bus ride. Let’s clear the air!
đź“· Get Snappy in Rothesay
Ready, set, click! The 12th Annual Through the Lens Photo Contest is now open in Rothesay, and the race to snap the town’s best hidden gems is on. Whether you’re capturing beachy vibes, leafy lanes, or the wharf’s fishy friends, there’s a shot for everyone.
Submissions are open until August 20, and the voting frenzy kicks off August 22. The winner (and eternal local bragging rights) will be announced September 8. So grab your camera, or phone, and show Rothesay what you’ve got.
