NEWS NOTES
š Ocean Week Fundy makes waves, literally
This week is Ocean Week Fundy and it's bigger than ever this year, with over a dozen events across the region aimed at celebrating, and safeguarding, our iconic Bay of Fundy. The Saint John-led hub is part of a national movement through Ocean Week Canada, but this oneās got that distinct salty Fundy flair.
Expect everything from beach cleanups and Bioblitzes to art projects and science-y walks that let you get up close with the critters who call the intertidal zone home. Hosted by Stonehammer Geopark and the Fundy Biosphere Region, the goal is to help people connect with the ocean in tangible, meaningful ways, while learning how to protect it from climate change and plastic overload.
𩺠Surgery wait times now just a tap away
Want to know how long you might wait for surgery in NB? Thereās now an app for that.
MyHealthNB just added a new tool showing median wait times by surgical specialty and facilityā¦so you can finally compare how things are going in different regions. It tracks the time from referral to procedure, and yes, urgent cases still get bumped to the front.
Check it out on the MyHealthNB app or website under āHealth System Data.ā
𦫠Free BeaverTails Friday is a real thing
BeaverTails is serving up free Cinnamon & Sugar pastries this Friday from 3ā5pm at the Area 506 Container Village shopā¦and itās all in support of Jack.org, Canadaās leading youth mental health charity.
The treat is free, but donations are encouraged, and your sugar fix will taste even better knowing itās helping a good cause.
Fun fact: if you lined up every BeaverTail ever made, itād stretch across Canadaā¦with some leftovers. Thatās a lot of dough.
