TALK OF THE TOWN
🇬🇧 Go Let It Out at Yip

For musician Dillion Ryan, seeing Oasis live in Toronto was a monumental event that he never thought he’d experience. “The second they announced it, I knew I had to find a way to be there,” he says. “I don’t think I would be a songwriter without Oasis.” After all the records, the break up, and the reunion tour, he’s still a passionate fan. “I’ve spent a lifetime defending Oasis to people who don’t really know their songs,” and now he’s bringing those iconic Brit-pop sounds to the Kingston Peninsula.
Dillion’s tribute act, Sequin Stars, is all about authenticity. Fans can expect a 70–90 minute set faithful to the Oasis Live 25 lineup, complete with parkas, sunglasses, and maybe the odd tambourine. “There’ll be no onstage brawls, we all get along pretty good,” he jokes.
Opening the night is peninsula-based band Caboose, covering British hits from the ’60s to today. The show promises a full British Invasion experience at Yip Cider on Saturday, October 4th. Grab your tickets now and get ready for some serious rock ’n’ roll nostalgia.

NEWS NOTES
🚧 Harbour Bridge on schedule
Good news for Saint John drivers: the Harbour Bridge is set to fully reopen at the end of October. Crews have been hammering away on slabs, piers, and the deck all year, making sure the 57-year-old icon can carry us for decades more. This year’s extra work cost about $400,000, but it’s all part of keeping traffic moving smoothly.
The Chesley Drive on/off ramps still have upgrades coming over the next two years, but lane closures are easing, full lanes return in October, and the bridge should be solid for the next 30–50 years. ($)
🥫Romero House gets a new home for helping hands
Romero House has been serving up meals and support in Saint John for more than 40 years, and now they’ve got more room to do it. A $1.1 million donation from CLOW Canada, the local hydrant makers, has funded a brand-new warehouse on Brunswick Drive for storing and distributing food and supplies.
The big reveal happens Thursday, with volunteers and CLOW staff moving in the first boxes before a 4pm ribbon-cutting. After four decades of feeding and helping neighbours, Romero House now has the space to keep up with Saint John’s growing needs.
⚡ Grand Bay-Westfield plugs in for the future
Electric car owners, rejoice: Grand Bay-Westfield just got five new Level 2 EV chargers, one at Brundage Point River Centre and four near the River Valley Community Centre transit stop. They’ll power your ride for $1.50 an hour, cheaper than your morning coffee.
Funded by Aviva Canada’s Charged for Change Program with Earth Day Canada, the stations are part of the town’s push for cleaner, smarter infrastructure. Mayor Brittany Merrifield says it’s all about cutting emissions while giving residents and visitors a smoother ride.
🚢🚢 Double Ship Day in Saint John
Two cruise ships are calling on the harbour today: Norwegian Gem docks 10am–7pm with 2,400 passengers, and Azamara Quest arrives 7am–5pm with 694.
