NEWS NOTES

🎁 Bridge Season Nears Its Winter Break

What comes once a year and actually brings joy? The end of Harbour Bridge construction season. By the end of November, all lanes and ramps will reopen, and the Harbour Passage detour near the Brunswicker will finally come down. Plus a special gift: no long-term lane closures beyond 2025.

Looking ahead, short-term lane closures may still pop up occasionally, including temporary single-lane closures in 2027. Ramp work and Harbour Passage detours will return from 2026–2028 for bearing replacements, and there may be minimal 20-minute full bridge closures, just like in 2025. So, enjoy the break while it lasts…more cones to come in the spring.

🏠Neighbourly Homes Open Doors

Saint John just got a little neighbourlier. This week, the first participants moved into the city’s brand-new Neighbourly Homes community on Thorne Avenue, part of the Housing for All Strategy. Courtyard-style mini-units are heated, staffed, and designed to give residents safety, support, and a shot at permanent housing. The second courtyard opens November 14, so the welcome wagon keeps rolling.

Developed by 12 Neighbours Inc., the Thorne Avenue site features accessible units, shared facilities, and access to critical services…the first residents are settling in, the second courtyard opens November 14, and with $3.5 million in federal and provincial support, life on Thorne Avenue is officially getting neighbourly.

🚌 KV Go 2 Hits the Brakes Early

Heads up, commuters: the KV Go 2 (Outer Route) is taking an unexpected early exit and won’t be running for the rest of the demonstration project. KV Go 1 (Inner Route) is still on the road until Sunday, November 9, and the weekend route will cover the usual Go 2 stops on Saturday and Sunday. Check kvgo.org for schedules — because even when plans change, your ride shouldn’t.
