Good morning, Saint John! The Prime Minister weighed in on the whole Lake Ontario nonsense yesterday, casually dropping the word hydronym. Sure, it means the name of a body of water, but really it’s just a fancy way of saying, “Nah, it’s Lake Ontario, bud.”

Here’s the lowdown for the day:

  • Aquarius is getting a little sibling 🏗️

  • Jeremiah’s brings the smash back 🍔

  • Things get a little loopy ✈️

Have a fantastic weekend!

NEWS NOTES

🏗️ Aquarius rises again

Construction is underway on a second apartment building next to Aquarius Towers off Fairville Boulevard.

Developer Carter Cavanagh says the three-storey building will bring 19 one and two-bedroom apartments to 45 Aquarius Court. A larger building was originally considered, but the plans were scaled back to leave enough parking.

Construction is expected to wrap up by spring 2027, with rents similar to the neighbouring Aquarius Towers, where two-bedroom units go for about $2,100 per month. ($)

🥪 Jeremiah’s is back in old stomping grounds

The expanded deli will have a slightly different setup, with grill favourites moving to the takeout counter. The bigger news…smash burgers and fries are joining the menu. Don’t panic, regulars. The sandwiches and soups aren’t going anywhere.

✈️ SJ Today takes flight

Air Show Atlantic lands at the Saint John Airport this weekend, but SJ Today got an early taste of the action with the Northern Stars Aerobatic Team.

They strapped publisher Geoff Walsh into a Pitts plane and took him flipping, rolling and looping through the sky. It was one of the biggest thrills of his life, although his stomach may file a separate report.

Here’s how it went:

LOCAL PICS
WHERE WERE WE WEDNESDAY? 📸

📍 On Wednesday we shared a pic and talked about telling the tooth…well, those teeth belonged to the Loyalist Man found in the foyer of the City Market. While no one correctly identified him this week, he’s worth grabbing a pic with while grabbing lunch today at Jeremiah’s on Monday!
