NEWS NOTES
š Hereās to Saint John Transit - The Real Road Warriors
They brave rush hour, surprise snowstorms, and that one passenger who insists on chatting at full volume - all to keep Saint John Transit moving. Today is Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day, so if youāre hopping on a bus, throw your driver a smile, a thank-you, or, if youāre feeling extra generous, a coffee bribe.
Last year, the Saint John Transit team clocked 2.1 million passenger trips, wrangled 52 vehicles, and racked up 101,000 service hours - which is about 100,999 more hours than your last New Yearās resolution lasted. So today, whether youāre a daily rider or just an occasional transit admirer, give a little love to the Saint John Transit crew who keep the wheels (literally) turning.
š± Rothesayās Spring Clean-Up Is Coming!
Itās that time again - time to roll up your sleeves and tackle those piles of junk! Rothesayās Spring Clean-Up Weeks are just around the corner. Mark your calendars for May 12th for solid waste pick-up (items must be curb-side by 7am), and May 19th for organic waste (no, thatās not your leftover pizza, but yard waste).
Hereās the scoop: your curb-side treasures must be bundled into manageable 40lb heaps - think small, think tidy, but definitely no junked car parts or toxic chemicals! Organic waste must be in brown paper bagsā¦because your grass clippings deserve a VIP treatment, not a run-of-the-mill trash bag. Hint: Donāt stuff your compost cart with yard waste, thatās a no-go. If you're unsure, get all the details here.
š¦ Got a Big Bite? Six Megalodon Teeth Up for Grabs!
Forget the usual artwork, Jones Auction House in Saint John is stepping into the world of prehistoric jaws with six authentic megalodon teeth now up for bid. If youāve ever wanted a piece of ancient history (and who hasnāt?), nowās your chance to own a tooth from the largest shark that ever lived.
The teeth, sourced from the shores of North Carolina, are open for bidding until March 30. Whether youāre into the polished, fancy ones or prefer the raw, barnacle-clad look, thereās something for every serious collector. Donāt worry, no oneās going to biteā¦unless youāre the winning bidder, of course!
šŖThe Circus Is Coming to Town!
I remember losing it as a child when my mom took me to the circus, and honestly, I havenāt set foot under the big tent since. But perhaps this is my chance to explore the circus again as an adult and see what happens when you combine gravity-defying stunts, clowns with questionable life choices, and motorcycles that seem to ignore all laws of physicsā¦Canadaās Circus Spectacular is rolling into town and promises to be wilder than I ever imagined.
Catch the madness in Rothesay on May 10 at 7:00pm, then swing by Saint Johnās Lord Beaverbrook Rink on May 11 (1:30 pm and 4:30pm), and finish up in Hampton on May 12 at 4:30pm. Itās a chance to relive your childhood circus memories - or make entirely new ones youāll never forget.
