Good morning, Saint John! Summer officially began this weekend, kicking off the annual race to squeeze four months of plans into roughly eight good weather weekends. Good luck to you if you’re managing barbecues, camping trips, yard work and that one couple who decided a precious summer long weekend was the perfect time to get married.

We are gathered here today to review:

  • Living on the edge 🪒

  • Nature walk, no chaser 🚶

  • If we build it, they will come ⚾

Is your dog struggling with reactivity, fear, or anxiety?

One year ago, Leigh started How to Dog to help families navigate these challenges. Leigh knows first hand how overwhelming, frustrating, and sometimes isolating it can feel!

Since then, local dog owners have trusted How to Dog to help with everything from puppy foundations to fear, anxiety, and reactivity.

This is a small way to say thank you, Saint John

NEWS NOTES

🌊 Saint John leans into its edge

Forget the Bay-cation…we're edgier now.

Envision Saint John has unveiled a new tourism campaign built around the tagline "East Coast with an Edge," pitching the region as a place that's a little less quaint fishing village and a little more adventure, nightlife, food and festivals. The campaign highlights everything from Fundy cliffs and kayaking to rooftop patios, the City Market, AREA 506 Festival and Moonlight Bazaar, while encouraging visitors to plan their next getaway.

🚶 Nature Park gives mornings back to people

Morning walkers, runners and cyclists scored a win this week at the Irving Nature Park.

The change comes after requests from park users and drew plenty of love online. Consider it a small victory for anyone who prefers birds, ocean views and crashing waves over the sound of car engines in the park.

🏖️ Three beaches closed to swimmers

The closures only apply to swimming, so visitors can still enjoy the beaches and surrounding trails. Warning signs have been posted and Public Health will continue testing until conditions are safe again.

⚾️ The next chapter for St. Peter's Field

Last month, we told you about local baseball dads Adam Doherty and Yan Del Valle and their effort to bring St. Peter's Field back to life. Since then, the project has secured support from the Toronto Blue Jays' Jays Care Foundation, and now the Greater Saint John Community Foundation is helping lead the final fundraising push to raise the remaining $50,000 needed for the project. If you missed the original story, it's worth a read for the baseball history alone.

We can help! Advertise with us and be seen by readers enjoying their morning coffee!
