Dinner tastes better when everyone's together 🍝
It’s a busy week. Between work, practices, errands and everything else, sitting around the same table doesn't happen as often as we'd like.
East Side Mario's has a table waiting for your family to enjoy a meal together, even when things are busy. Big portions, Italian favourites, endless Soup, Salad and Garlic Homeloaf, and something on the menu for everyone. Proudly locally owned and operated, they're ready whenever you are.
NEWS NOTES
🥊 SJ Sports Hall welcomes six
The Greater Saint John Sports Hall of Fame is making six new additions this year...and they've got the trophy cases to back it up. The 2026 class includes athletes Peter Britt (boxing), Glen Hayward (judo), Olivia Gauthier (soccer) and James Smith (shooting), along with builders Robert McInnes (karate) and Allie Vaughan (taekwondo). Between them are Olympic trials, NCAA Division I honours, professional championships, international medals and decades spent coaching the next generation. They'll officially be inducted during a ceremony at Lily Lake Pavilion on October 24, with ticket details expected closer to the event.
🍟 Local food challenge goes viral
Big D's is having a pretty good week. A new video from U.K. eating champion BeardMeatsFood, featuring the Rothesay restaurant's infamous "Eighth Wonder of the World" food challenge, has already topped 2.8 million YouTube views. The challenge includes a mountain of poutine, mac and cheese, a triple smash burger, a donair, a loaded hot dog, a side and a milkshake, all with a one-hour time limit. We won't ruin the ending, but let's just say there's a reason the wall of fame has plenty of room left. Not into food challenges? Big D's also serves one of the best burgers in town at its Container Village location.
⛳ Top junior golfers tee off in Hampton
Some of Atlantic Canada's best young golfers are in Hampton this week as Golf Canada's NextGen Atlantic Championship takes over Hampton Golf Club through Thursday. It's the final stop on the national junior qualifying circuit, with spots in the Canadian Junior Championships on the line. After two rounds, the field will be cut before Thursday's final round. If you've ever wanted to watch tomorrow's top golfers before they hit the big stage, this is about as close as you'll get without leaving the region. But, forget the leaderboard for a second….we want to know what Golf Canada does with Hampton's infamous 700-yard par 6.
