TALK OF THE TOWN
125 YEARS OF KIDS FINDING THEIR PLACE
Saint John has always been a city of firsts, and the Boys & Girls Club is no exception. From a small group of boys in 1892 to a 36,000-square-foot hub for youth today, the Club has shaped generations. Carl White, a lifelong club kid, is now co-authoring a commemorative history book that tells the full story.
Curious how a local organization became a national leader in youth programs? Read the full story about 125 years in Saint John here.
NEWS NOTES
đ§ City Road down to one lane
Starting today, traffic on City Road and Station Street will be squeezed into a single lane while crews tackle some much-needed asphalt resurfacing. The work zone runs from Garden Street through Haymarket Square, plus Station Street over to Smythe. Expect lane reductions 7amâ7pm for the next two weeks. Translation: leave a little extra time, keep your cool, and maybe wave to the folks in hard hats.
đŽââď¸ Young Voices Wanted at SJPD
Youâre never too young to make a difference! The Saint John Police are looking for youth leaders aged 16-22 to join their Chiefâs Youth Leadership Advisory Committee. Itâs your chance to give the Chief feedback on policing, share ideas, and help shape the future of community safetyâŚbasically, be the voice of your generation without yelling across a city council chamber.
The committee meets quarterly at HQ, with the Chief and neighbourhood officers on hand. Members under 18l need parental consent, but other than that, it's just about bringing ideas and enthusiasm. Applications are open until September 30.
đ Ball Hockey with the Sea Dogs

Kids 13 and under can lace up for a 3-on-3 showdown, with shirts, guaranteed games, and even a Sea Dogs ticket for Home-Opener weekend is included in the $25 fee. Registration closes Sept. 15 at noon, so get your squad together and bring your best street game.
